Master of Science in Environmental Science programme intends to produce graduates who are:

Admission requirements

To qualify for admission to the Master of Science in Environmental Science programme, candidates shall be:-

  1. Holders of at least B.Sc in Environmental Science, B.Sc in Earth Science, B. Sc in Geography and Natural resource Management, B.Sc in Climate Change and Development, BA in Urban and Regional Planning, BA in Development Studies or other relevant disciplines with upper second class honours degree of Maseno University or any other recognized university.
  2. Holders of a lower second class honours degree of Maseno University or any other recognised University and Postgraduate Diploma of Maseno University or any other recognised University, or evidence of extensive research experience as demonstrated by publications in peer reviewed journals.
  3. Pass degree with a post graduate diploma in the relevant areas.

 

Duration of the Programme
The duration of the programme shall normally be two (2) academic years. Teaching methods in all units shall include lectures, field trips, seminars, tutorials, discussions, and practicals.

Master of Science in Urban Environmental Planning and Management programme intends to produce graduates who are:

  1. Well-grounded in the fundamentals of urban environmental science, able to use the acquired knowledge to contribute to planning and management of urban environment for sustainable development.
  2. Creative and innovative with the power of imagination for work in research, industry, academia qualifying them to be strong policy practitioners.
  3. Consciousness of the needs and aspirations of the society and augment the sense of responsibility towards the same.
  4. Possess advanced scientific knowledge and research techniques to enable them take up careers in research and teaching;

  2. Innovative in research techniques which can provide solutions to environmental problems nationally, regionally and locally.
  3. Possess advanced scientific knowledge to enable them take up careers in research and teaching in institutions of higher learning.

  2. In addition to the above, applicants must meet the specific requirements of the Doctoral degree programme as approved by Senate.
